D-Day!

Well, this is it. The culmination that started since November ends tomorrow to see whether the team gets the reprieve or the team goes out as the first part of the product will be vetted for the last time...

We're all pretty worried, stressed, tired, overworked 160%. Originally the number of people was at 25, but with 7 gone in the space of 6 months, the number of manpower is reduced to just 18, which is about 30% drop. How I wish things would be better rather than spending unnecessary time to finish of what we started. Many told me that it was not me to be blamed for the mess, the ones that left are, since they came in about nine months before me.

Had they really stayed for an extra mile, things will get better. But I learnt that the seven who left are mainly because of how they are treated for what they have contributed - peers or by Vasem.

I was pretty scared and I really do not want things to end prematurely. Otherwise, it's just the repeat of January 2008. I made calls to my parents to make myself calm down. I pitied the others. If we're out, the others had to go back to India. And well, it's another 1-2 months looking for another one but I usually leave on my own terms.

I would love to see things work out fine than going bad, so reprieve is something I only want as a New Year's give.

I see great things coming later, and we need God to help us through....please!

Blue Men Visting PJ Vigil, For What?

The night before the weekly vigil, I have been reliably told that the police will be paying a visit to the weekly vigil at the PJ municipal council building. From what I heard and say so-s, I got information of three possibilities that of why the police decides to visit the place yesterday.

The first possibility is that the police are apparently unhappy that the last half of the twelve conditions are mostly ignored by those participants. If you notice that almost every week, people would bring candles and sometimes show their solidarity by wearing the black, orange, and red shirts that shows no to ISA message. Many have found that the last six conditions are ridiculous and this is what Haris called it as unacceptable.

The second possibility could stem from last week. During the 11th edition of the vigil, councilor Richard Yeoh had told the audience in gathering that he had applied the permit as usual but on that week itself, he had yet to get a quick reply by the PJ district police. The one who issued the letter is of Supt. Shukor, but we have no idea whether the application was replied or otherwise. Technically, the permit did not reach in time last week.

The third possibility could be personally motivated. There has been word going around that CPO Khalid Bakar was very pissed off of a certain petition to the Sultan (to be submitted after New Year) calling for help in the removal from his post. Currently, the petition, if checked has approximately 5200 signatures already.

Earlier on, we knew of their presence and to play safe, we told everyone not to wear any of those three forbidden color shirts. According to an account by Stephen, the vigil was in silence and dispersed after 40 minutes. The main road of Jalan Yong Shook Lin was sealed off by cops and in the gathering the number of Special Branch plain-clothes personnel doubled. Most of the people identified a female SB (with a tudung) taking pictures of people all around, which raises attention and knowledge to people.

First of all, the police watching line has been blurred. The activity is held in private grounds, meaning that the police cannot simply go in to the place without permission of the city council. This also applies to people that they cannot simply go to people's house without permission or so. So are they really instructed to clamp down on anything that is not UMNO approved?

400 Million Campaign Money, RM 300 Per Ang Pau

Certain quarters in Terengganu have mentioned that BN is allocating RM 400 million (originally as RM 1.3 billion) of the wang ehsan contributed to the federal government for the election campaign to have their candidate Wan Farid Salleh winning the by-election.

Note that since there are approximately 8000-9000 Chinese voters there, RM 2.4-3 million will be spent on giving red packets to those people to get them to vote for BN. Each red packet will contain RM 300 each.

I could not recall the source, however, but I am sure that this was part of 'threatening' people to vote for BN.

Getting The Math Right For MCA and MIC

The other day, MCA's Chew Mei Fun said that should Pakatan Rakyat takes over the country, hudud laws would be replacing the existing secular laws. And so does Samy Vellu who said that it
is against the sensitivities of the multi-racial community in Malaysia.

MCA president Ong Tee Keat has asked opposition DAP to boycott the Kuala Terengganu by-election campaign as a matter of principle if it is really against PAS' plan. Mr Ong said if DAP chose to help campaign for PAS' candidate in Kuala Terengganu, then it would mean that the party supported public whipping, amputation and stoning for criminal offences under hudud laws.

'Mere words objecting to PAS vice-president Datuk Husam Musa's statement on the issue would not suffice if not demonstrated by action,' Mr Ong said in his latest posting in his blog.

From The Electric New Paper

From what I look that the statement simply says two things which is implying that MCA and MIC are saying that the Malays are their enemies. But that is too harsh but MCA and MIC should look at the whole point mathematically.

In the last general election, PAS only fielded 60 candidates, which is not even 30% of the 222 Parliamentary seats that are available in Malaysia. In the end, they won only less than half while the remaining of the 82 seats were won by PKR and DAP. Admittedly, Husam Musa said that Hudud laws is not possible to be implemented at national level.

MCA just runs their mouth on behalf of UMNO, and they are helping UMNO to use that sentiment to stir up trouble in the upcoming Kuala Terengganu by-election. If I remember back in 1999, when PAS took over Terengganu, the state government showed an excellent state of racial harmony, opening discussion with their non-Malay minority community there. This also mirrors what Kelantan did. When PAS took over since 1990, the first issue was to address the non-Malays, with Nik Aziz surprised them asking whether they want the permit to build a Hindu temple there. Before 1990, BN would definitely refused outright a permit to build a temple there.

So coming back to the point, MCA and MIC should not be just saying that but should consider the math. There is no way that Hudud laws can be implemented nationwide as there is a check and balance team of PKR, the liberal Malays, and of course the DAP as well as the Indian Malaysian community.

In order to change to hudud laws, there must be a change to the Constitution. If PAS wants to do that, PAS must have 148 of their own MPs alone or including some who agreed to it to change it. Since PAS fielded less than 100 candidates in general-elections, how can MCA / MIC say that they could be implementing hudud laws in Malaysia?

The scenario can also be a double-edge sword. A possible scenario could be that suppose if there are 148 UMNO MPs while others are composed of BN allies / opposition, and if UMNO could do the hudud thing, regardless of the opposition from others.

Samy, Ong, and Chew, first get the math right before you open your mouth!

PJ Vigil Round 11

It's already 11 times the PJ vigil is held and the numbers are consistently at around 150 to 200 each time we gather at the City Hall. Apart from the bloggers, there are some new faces who turned up to see what it is at the gathering.

This week, two foreign people came over, including Penny (Gobloking) and John from Sydney.

The vigil has been turned into a speakers corner as someone said as many would like to share their views and came up to the stage to state whatever they would like to say. That day was the second time I decided to go up to the stage to present my views - showing the parallels of Archimedes's immortal line - "Give me a lever, and I will move the world."

And of course, the main course for tonight, which is the appearance by Pete Kamaruddin - which we saved it for the last. Of course, I was told that a few people spotted some SBs in plainclothes which includes one female but we spotted one whom we think there's something worth of him.

To commemorate the loss of Shukree who died suddenly last week, there was a minute of silence in memoriam. Our special guest, The Malay Male delivered a 'sajak' in memory of him. Shukree wanted to follow the team of bloggers to cover the KT by-election but sadly could not do so.

Since this week is Christmas week, pastor Sivin Kit led a group of people to sing O-Holy Night.

Chris, whom I met at the Wharf on Friday night was surprised of me taking photos in black and white, so this week, I shot half of photos in black and white while the remaining in color. Fellow blogger, DelCapo was also interested with some of the photos, so let's move on with the photos.

You have to forgive me though as putting up here at night is pretty slow than in the morning :)

Khalid Caught Lying Again

If you read what Khalid Bakar said, I think it could be a spin by the UMNO-BN to make people think of that.

PETALING JAYA, Dec 20 (Bernama) -- The Sultan of Selangor, Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah, has expressed concerns over the use of children in campaigns organised by certain groups and individuals in pursuit of their personal interests.

The Ruler conveyed his concern to Selangor police chief Datuk Khalid Abu Bakar prior to his departure overseas last Friday.

"The Sultan is disappointed with the actions by some irresponsible people for exploiting children in their campaigns or demonstrations.

"He has expressed concern on the matter and wants the police to take stern action against those involved," Khalid told reporters here Saturday.

As such, he said, police would not hesitate to take action against anyone who used children in unlawful activities.

On the Bar Council's tendencies to be critical of the actions taken by the police, Khalid said, as a respectable body, the council should have acted in the interests of the law and not otherwise.

He also said that police were preparing investigation papers with a view of charging Sungai Siput member of parliament Dr D. Jeyakumar, who was detained in Rawang, for using children in the "Cycling for Change" campaign organised by Jaringan Rakyat Tertindas (Jerit) or the Oppressed People Network.

In the Dec 15 incident, 58 people, including 28 who were below the age of 18, were detained for participating in an illegal gathering.
Or is it? From what it was said, the state governments of Penang, Perak and Selangor gave their seal of approval to let the cyclists cycle at these states. But the irony is that the state governments are Pakatan Rakyat governments. UMNO is the opposition front of these three states and but the coalition that rules the state government has the right to endorse or otherwise.

Look carefully at the Malaysiakini summary on this matter:
The Selangor police chief says the sultan was disappointed that some irresponsible quarters had recently used children to legitimise their struggles
Did the Sultan said it on his word or Khalid Bakar said on his behalf?

Raja Petra Kamaruddin has another thing to say of using the palace for leverage:

I was identified as the dalang (puppet master) behind this ‘conspiracy to trigger a clash between the government and the palace’ and Umno Youth subsequently ousted me from the Malay Chamber of Commerce. The Umno Youth personalities were Wan Hisham (brother of Wan Farid, the candidate for the 17 January 2009 Kuala Terengganu by-election), Wan Bakri, Nasir Ibrahim Fikri, etc., and led, of course, by Wan Mokhtar, the Menteri Besar and head of the Wan clan of Terengganu.

We found out later that the palace had, indeed, not issued any ‘yellow letter’ and that Wan Mokhtar was, in fact, the partner of these three Datuks. The palace had been used to siphon out more than RM100 million worth of government money, which, at today’s prices, could easily be five times that amount.
And in this situation, did the palace issue a yellow letter on this or it's just a make up to convince people that the Sultan said it?

The Pinocchio by the name of Khalid Bakar has its nose growing more and more. If you have read the child's story, you'd find that someday a woodpecker would peck the nose.

I also concurred with the last paragraph:
It has become the habit for the government and police to clamp down on those not aligned to Umno while using the palace as the excuse for doing so. “We are just doing what the Sultan ordered,” would be the normal argument. They even use the Sultan’s name to rob us of billions of the rakyat’s money. Podah, we no longer fall for that crap. And we are going to send a petition to the Sultan to protest what the police did. So, please sign the petition and let us get as many signatures as possible. We are going to fight back with a vengeance.

Kick That Fella!

Hey, it's not Kickdefella here, but there has been an initiative is to kick Khalid Bakar out of Selangor. Today, my blog buddy Haris started the idea of calling the Sultan of Selangor to kick that idiot out.

He has lied to the public thrice.

He claimed that the police did it to save under-age cyclists.

He claimed that no way rescuers will loot collapsed houses of victims.

He says that the people who attended the vigil in November were warned many times.

Cut that crap, Khalid. I support the initiative to kick him out.

Remember Team Musa vs Team Ramli? It's on!

Boleh Atau Tak Boleh Masuk?

I bet that there will be massive road blocks on the main road leading in and out of Kuala Lumpur, particularly the one heading towards Parliament building. Even if the police said okay but with no convoys.

But it's a convoy that poses no physical harm to people, why a massive force deployed on them?

In the recent year or so, the police is under public scrutiny and critcism from people, and NGOs

Excerpt from a letter to Malaysiakini:

The PDRM has deployed hundreds of policemen at road blocks to intimidate, bully, harass, arrest, abuse and manhandle a tiny group of committed individuals who are campaigning for a better Malaysia through peaceful, lawful and respectful means.

Does the PDRM have any evidence that these Jerit activists are out to embark on some mass nationwide criminal activity? If so, they need to make this evidence public and take them to court.

If not, the PDRM is duty bound to uphold the laws of Malaysia which allow peaceful expression (including cycling for a cause) and get on with its real job of fighting crime, which the PDRM has not been terribly good at.

Instead, the PDRM makes wild allegations and resorts to stale and crude scare mongering tactics to try and both turn public opinion against the campaign and stop the cyclists in their tracks.

As the campaign now enters the final stretch after more than two weeks, the PDRM is the obvious loser by acting increasingly desperate, reckless and highhanded as witnessed in Rawang.

The Jerit cyclists and activists have already won resoundingly even if they do not make it to Parliament on December 18. They have caught the nation’s imagination, won widespread public support and displayed tremendous courage and fortitude in fighting for the rights of every Malaysian.

I remembered back last year, the police is split between Team Musa and Team Ramli - the CCID chief who is trying to do the right thing. But he and his men were under persecution from Team Musa and the gang of underworld kingpins. Now, it's a different ground with the government, particularly the Home Ministry ordering the police to spy on dissenters and opposition parties.

Let's see how this would play out tomorrow. If people are very angry because of arriving at office late, like the July 14 episode, Syed Hamid and the police are going to get slapped left and right. JERIT from what I searched through is a NGO. Basically, there is no underground group or we'll have your balls.....

Don't Bullshit People Khalid!

State CPO Khalid Bakar is under fire again from many quarters in what is to be a blatant lying to the public of 27 underaged among the 57 JERIT campaigners arrested in Rawang.

This is not the only time in the space of two months that Bakar is whacked left and right from all quarters. In the recent Bukit Antarabangsa episode, people accused him for not paying serious attention into victim claims that salvagers loot the houses following the landslide disaster.

In November, he was also under fire from many NGOs for leading a group of FRUs and SBs to stop the Bersih / anti-ISA gathering that left many bloodied and 23 arrested.

Excerpt from Malaysiakini:

“We detained them for (taking part in an) illegal procession. Later when we checked their details, 28 were found to be under the age of 18…clearly this violates the Child Act as some are only 15 years old,” said Selangor police chief Khalid Abu Bakar.

khalid abu bakar selangor cpo“When giving their statements, these children said they did not know why they were asked to participate in the cycling event,” he told reporters at the Rawang police station last night.

“As for the children, we have actually saved them from being misused and exploited by irresponsible people… we did not arrest them.”

He also said the police had contacted their parents to take them home and would investigate whether the children had received permission to take part in the event.

Another 29 cyclists were arrested and investigated under the Police Act for illegal procession, and under the Child Act for abusing children.

jerit ride for change rawang police protest 161208 01Among them were Rawang assemblywoman Gan Pei Nie of PKR and Sungai Siput member of Parliament Dr D Jeyakumar of PSM (photo: with loudhailer).

Khalid also told reporters that the teenagers were confused about the purpose of the expedition.

“We will call their parents to take them (home). We will also call the child service unit to discuss details of returning the children to their parents.”

‘No permit issued’

Khalid said Gan had not applied for a permit to allow the cyclists to ride pass through Rawang, denying her claim that she had reached a verbal understanding with the Rawang police chief.

jerit ride for change rawang police protest 161208 11Khalid dismissed this, saying “there is no such thing as a verbal agreement”.

“Permits must be written. I was informed by the police chief that no application was made,” he added.

The teenagers were kept at the Rawang police station overnight, and are expected to be released to their parents today

*******

I'm not very sure whether to laugh or get angry. But yes, the answer is both. I am laughing because Khalid Bakar is talking bullshit out to hoodwink people into thinking that police is doing the right thing. But I am angry at the same time because Khalid Bakar is lying to the people and in the capacity of the a high-rank police man, that warrants some serious implications to public perception.

A few months ago, Dad fired an employee of his working in the Klang office. I heard him talking over the phone to his other colleagues reporting of a missing money and the employee attempting to take the money out. I am convinced that what he did was born out of a desperation
maybe because of owing people money or what, I don't know.

One night at dinner Dad showed me a list of message between him and the employee that he fired. It was about the notebook that was given to him by the company. There were too many excuses, unsure whether he lost it, it was damaged or so. But the final message from Dad to him was "I'm not born yesterday" - if I am not mistaken.

Yes, many of us are not born yesterday. Reading that piece again for a few times, and reading JERIT's statement, that means that Khalid Bakar is a 'pembohong' and is ought to be sacked. And yes, the Sultan has been told of a matter pertaining of the police misusing their power and something of deviating their purpose of reducing crime rates.

Going after people under Police Act is somewhat a lower priority whereas the real priority is looking for criminals. Kingpins, criminals, scums, killings in Klang, etc..Khalid you should go there and pay more attention to that instead of JERIT.

Say, do you notice of him really look like Reezal Merican? I see some resemblance there...perhaps that's the hunch that I have in my mind?

Or, not only me but other citizens will fire you on the spot. So don't bullshit people, that's thrice already!

BN Could Splash RM 1.3 Billion in KT By-Election

A little while ago, when I was drinking with some friends, a friend told me of something that was pretty interesting. Though it could never come out in the MSM, it was said that a notable minister had revealed to someone that BN is splashing $1.3 Billion ringgit alone of WANG EHSAN just for the Kuala Terengganu by-election.

Barisan Nasional has only one objective: make sure that KT remains with BN at all costs.

There was a joke out of it where money paid to the voters could be in bundles of RM5 since RM 5 is green in color which is almost close to the color of the PAS logo.

But it came as a shocking revelation of how bad money politics has become in Malaysia and showing this means BN is preparing to play dirty.....

Spare Me The Embarassment, Azian!

From Bernama via Nut Graph:

IPOH, 8 Dec 2008: Ipoh Timur Umno today expressed opposition to a proposal by Canning state assemblyperson Wong Kah Woh to have the road signs in Taman Cempaka here replaced with multilingual signs.

Ipoh Timur Umno head Datuk Azian Osman said Wong's suggestion was contrary to the Federal Constitution and showed disrespect for Bahasa Malaysia as the national language.

"Ipoh Timur Umno strongly opposes the proposal. We feel intimidated by his arbitrary action without consideration for the sensitivities of the people," he told reporters after attending an Aidil Adha sacrificial slaughter ceremony in Kampung Tok Cendang.

Wong was reported to have said that Taman Cempaka would be the first area in Perak to have signs in Bahasa Malaysia, Chinese, Tamil and Jawi.

Azian said the multilingual signs were unnecessary because Taman Cempaka was not a tourist attraction.

He said the residents of the housing estate were locals who have no problems with the existing Bahasa Malaysia road signs.

Azian also questioned a statement by Perak senior state executive councillor Datuk Ngeh Koo Ham, also from the DAP, who had said that the issue should not be politicised as language was a communication tool and that the move to have multilingual signs was a private sector initiative.

"I ask the menteri besar (Datuk Seri Mohammad Nizar Jamaluddin) and the state government to be level-headed and respect the Federal Constitution," he said.
I don't know what is wrong with you saying that putting multilingual road signs is somewhat not respecting Bahasa Malaysia. Hey..there is in Chinese, Arabic, English and of course Malay. So what is wrong of having multilingual road names like in Penang and in KL?

During the times of my parents being at around 17 or so, they remember streets by their English names. For instance, Jalan Pasar, in old town, where my mother grew up, it was called Market Street, running across the road, was Leech Street which comprises of the famous stalls and shops there.

Isn't the measure also helps to improve historical value of Ipoh? For people mostly born in the early 90s, many do not know what is the original name of a road. Most know for instance, just the Malay name like Jalan Sultan Idris Shah, but do not know the actual name of Brewster Road. Try asking someone who has been in Ipoh for more than 50 years about this name and most remembered well of the name Brewster for instance.

The statement by this UMNO joker called Azian Osman shows that:

1. You want people to become like Mike Tyson Taib that 'don't speak Engrish'? You want people to be stuck in the past?

2. Real work in world demands good English and if you say that , it means you don't your own kind to excel well in the working life or Hard Knox university.

3. Think fool, what is Bahasa Malaysia language value on global scale? No 1, no 2 or what?

5. Are you indirectly trying to say that the non-Malays are your enemies? Defend the Malay rights against something that is morally correct to everyone?

4. Even your fellow Malay man Hisham Rais is laughing at you! His comment:

kah kah kah…. tukarlaaah dulu nama UNITED MALAYS NATIONAL ORGANISATION … ini bukan dalam bahasa melayu…. cakap nak berjuang untuk melayu…. nama gerombolan pun tak pakai nama melayu…. kah kah kah…

kah kah kah… asik asik nama jalan…. asik asik hina bahasa melayu … kah kah kah

kah kah kah…. tak kan tak nampak berselirat iklan besar besar dalam bahasa inggeris… tak kan mata rabun… janganlaa buat tak sedar…kah kah kah…

BIK MAMA ATAS KATIL TAK NAMPAK…..
kah kah kah…

Please spare me the embarassment, Azian and gosh, you're a SPNB chairman!?..it's really ridiculous! Kan Malaysia multi-religion, multi-culture, etc...ini macam belit what you preach, man!

I maybe from Ipoh, I can remember major roads in their other names in English besides BM. Go and read Lat's Town Boy for start or ask Mr. Lat who's staying in Gunung Rapat to help you!

Kevin's Birthday

Yesterday is officially Kevin's birthday but since Monday was a public holiday, I called him out for some lunch at KLCC.

Well, he just turned 18 and told me that he reached Level 80 in playing WOW. I was shell-shocked when he said that he took one day to reached the level whereas when we had a holiday one week ago, he was at level 78.

He was in town on Saturday but did not call me because he thought I was too busy. Well I was indeed too busy in office, spending Saturday from 11.30 to 8.30 there to finish something important.

I took one photo but in black and white because dad thinks there's some IT in shooting B&W.

Must have been from watching Schindler's List black and white footage.

Candidate Selection Dilemma For KT By-Election

1. On the Kuala Terengganu by-election situation, the EC has set the nomination date to be on 6th of January and the polling date to be on 17th January. Both sides will have the problem of selecting the best man to run for the vacant Parliamentary seat.

2.On the BN camp, the possible candidates are narrowed to two. One of them is Zaid Embong. Of course Zaid is a Terengganu man but the risk of using him for the by-election is that he is one of the old-generation regime of UMNO and chances of winning could be in jeopardy since a lot of voters there are those new-generation of voters and those born after Merdeka.

3. The other choice is obviously Abdullah Badawi's political secretary and deputy Home Minister Wan Farid Salleh. But most of us note him and his brother Wan Hisham of being one of the few notable cronies. His brother Wan Hisham plays an active part on Monsoon Cup, while he himself handles the state's wang ehsan contribution to federal government - 12 billion in 8 years. But if you remember the Batu Buruk - he is believed to be responsible for setting up the provocation event since he met the police two hours before the event started.

4. Between the two, Wan Farid is the BN's best choice for he can capture the attention of the voters particularly those born after Merdeka man. He is a new generation educated person so that will help to add to the credentials. Mat Sabu kept mentioning that he is the one that orders the police to go hard on opposition ceramahs, protests, etc..

5. The voters in Terengganu would prefer to have a candidate from Terengganu itself. IN this case, they would prefer to have a candidate from Kuala Terengganu. In the recent general election, Mat Sabu lost by a margin of 685 votes since the spoilt was won by the 85-year old lady. Many observers are sure that PAS man Mat Sabu will contest again but the catch is he is not from Terengganu but from Penang and this could cast some doubt on some voters on whether to vote for him. A poll conducted shows that Mat Sabu is the popular choice to contest that election again.

6. The next obvious choice for PAS candidate is Mustafa Ali. Chances could be good since he is also an assemblyman of a state seat that falls under the KT parliamentary seat. But the one problem for Mustafa is that the relationship of him with the PKR-DAP allies is not in a very good situation and this could pose a problem for the Pakatan Rakyat leadership. There is also a risk of having a loose-canon that is him.

7. The 1999-2004 MP Dr. Syed Azman, also from PAS is a possible choice but in terms of situation and criteria, he fits the bill. He is a doctor in profession, able to get in touch with the new generation and of course being knowledgable in terms of education and etc. Since he's also a Terengganu man, this would of course fit the voters criteria of having a local to be an MP.

8. There are also two other people in PAS that could be selected.

9. It would be better if both camps instead select an unknown quantum person as a candidate. Not only it provides good competition from bird's eye view, it also gets the notable people from both camps to campaign for the unknown candidate. Also, this would get the voters to assess analytically from nomination day until polling day to determine who would be the best man to win the by-election.

10. The 11% of voters in KT are Chinese and both camps are desperate to get them for their votes could swing the decision in favor either party though they form the minority group.

Why Ali Rustam Will Win UMNO Deputy Presidency

Anyone can figure - with analysis that Ali Rustam will win the UMNO presidency.

1. Money is king. If you want to have votes, you need to give red packet to your voters. This also happens in Johor, prominently to gain respect from the kingmakers there. Many have claimed and believed that Muhyiddin as a 'stingy' or 'koo hon' person, similarly to Ku Li who doesn't offer money for votes. Since money politics is rampant, chances are those votes could go to either Mike Tyson Taib or Ali Rustam.

2. From experience, a potential Deputy Prime Minister must be able to speak English particularly on international duty. But everyone knows that Mike Tyson Taib "cannot speak Engrish" he had the problem of reading RPK's article where Mike Tyson lodged a complaint to the police station. In the time where economy is in recession and cost cutting is needed, hiring a translator for Mike Tyson could be costly.

3. From the two points above Ali Rustam falls between #1 and #2. And chances are votes could go to him.

Police: You Cannot Cycle Here, There, Everywhere...

I don't know why the police is so bent on stopping those moral-good rallies or campaigns like the JERIT cycling campaign. Malaysiakini reported that 50 bicycles were seized in Teluk Kumbar following a police road-block. However, the cops relented after three hours following talks by Sungai Siput MP Jeyakumar Devaraj. The eye-catching line?
“I told them, come on-lah, there are so many criminals around for you to deal with; just let our cyclists do their thing and they won’t cause any problem,” he said over the phone.

“If you want, you can send police to help us with the traffic, though even that won’t be necessary as we have our own marshals"
I have a gut feeling that whoever ordered the cops to clamp down is pretty stupid and bigot. And it shows one thing that the police are political UMNO lapdogs. See, on opposition campaigns, they come down very hard, probably on instruction from Home Ministry while on the PRO-ISA they couldn't do so because UMNO's PEKIDA gang is there to backup. If they try to go in, they risk the wrath of their paymen.

So who's the real bigot out there? Are you saying that I cannot cycle on the road?

A Payout Cheque By Nuffnang

For those of you who have signed up for Nuffnang but yet to get a paycheck at all, this is what you get.

For my case, it took me a little more than a month to receive the cheque. I requested for a cash out on 27 October. It took more than month to process, and finally the cheque was sent from Penang on the 2nd. It took three days to reach other states (according to postal rules) before it came here today. If the destination is within a state, it can reach in one day.

Behind the cheque, you can see a watermark to show that it is a real one, not a forgery.

This pay is the result of advertising for exactly one year. I've started the Nuffnang advertising in October 2007. The thing is that if you have more people visiting your blogs, chances are your pay would be higher.

Yesterday - By Beatles - New Remix

Yesterday,
All financial crisis seemed so far away.
Now it looks as though they're here to stay,
Oh, I was rich just yesterday...

Suddenly,
I am half the net worth I used to be,
with the markets falling constantly,
Oh yesterday I was wealthy.

Why the bubble burst, I don't know,
Leverage, they say.
Should I go short or long
It's gone wrong whichever way-ya-ya-ya. ..

Yesterday,
It was such as an easy game to play
Now I need a loan to pay my way,
Oh interest rates, please drop today

How I long for yesterday….

RM1.70 Tak Bolehkah? Dollah Kedekut!

Late last night I got news that the new petrol price would be at RM 1.90 instead of the max of RM 1.85. And there's a difference of just RM 2 for every 40 liters purchased.

According to Malaysiakini, Penang CM Lim Guan Eng chastised Abdullah Badawi for not reducing the prices further. He said that based on the price of $48 per barrel, the price should be as of August 2005 that is RM 1.52. Now then, earlier on, Shahrir Samad did admit that the current price in Malaysia is higher than the other nations for we pay 38 cents for tax.

That means that the actual price minus tax and operator / company commission is at RM 1.30.

Why not give them the price of RM 1.70 but with the taxes cut by half. Instead of 38, it's 19 cents per liter? Picture this, if we based price on RM 1.70 per liter, we stand to save another RM 8 for every 40 liters purchased. When Shahrir said that reduction is not more than 15 cents this round, it implies that Dollah Badawi and the cabinet is pretty kedekut. I remembered my grandfather always get chastised by my grandma for being kedekut and I see Dollah Badawi the same thing as well...

Also, whatever Dollah Badawi said of the economy outlook 2009, don't take it blindly for it may not be as what it seems. Everyone better buck up their seatbelts for the bumpy ride is to go at least for the first half of next year.

Subsidy For Dryer Machines Ah?

This is from The Star:

PUTRAJAYA: Those living in multilevel residences will no longer be allowed to dry their clothes in the open “where the whole world can see,” effective next year.

This follows a government decision to tackle the eye-sore problem once and for all, and to clean up the image of Malaysian cities by coming up with a guideline for both developers and residents of such buildings.

Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak said a guideline should be in place so that developers would be made responsible for preparing a special area or the proper facilities in its properties for drying clothes.

“We can see today that most people living in multilevel residences like flats, apartments and condominiums dry their clothes in the open. It is unsystematic and affects our efforts to portray a modern image for Malaysian cities.

“For the moment, we will have a guideline so that necessary action can be taken by parties concerned, including residents to have proper equipment and facilities so they need not expose their laundry,” he said after chairing the National Council on Local Government meeting on Tuesday.

The Deputy Prime Minister however said there was nothing punitive about the guideline as the aim was to encourage the public to be more sensitive about the issue.

“For the time being, it is more on making the moral switch. It it does not work, then we have to consider amending existing laws,” he said, adding a circular would be issued by the ministry next year to inform local authorities of the decision.

Najib said it would be the duty of local authorities and the Commissioner of Buildings to inform developers and managements of flats, apartments and condominiums to see to it that the guideline was followed.

****

My dear Najib, I don't know whose idea was it to raise this issue, I better hope it's not Rosie out there. If you say that you don't want hanging clothes outside, don't wait until those developers add in those special facilities. Instead, why not you offer subsidy for dryer machines so that everyone can buy one. Look at Singapore, buying a Bravia W series TV is much cheaper because Singapore offers subsidy. They are encouraging people to have TV in each household.

It's a pretty simple solution, isn't it?

The Co-Pilot Syndrome in Malaysia

If you have seen the Malaysiakini video by Raja Petra yesterday at the Bar Council, yes, you have read the big portion of what I'm trying to say. Which you should do first before continuing.

The real problem right now and I pity is that most Malays right now have the co-pilot syndrome, which is they have trouble when they do not how to fish to feed themselves.

Tun Mahathir did the NEP and those affirmative-action initiatives to help the Malays to be on their own feet - to teach them how to do their own fishing when those who feed them are gone. Unfortunately, it has been misintepreted, many perceived Ketuanan Melayu as stamping on others, rather than it's actual objective - to become sirs of their own standard. Now the problem is still not solved, that is instead of sirs, there are still beggars (state of mind) still out there. People were brainwashed and taught to use this as a last resort when changes for the beter of the nation are favored by others but considered as a threat to the Malay race.

The other day, I got headband that said "Hidup Melayu Hidup Islam". Does that mean that if Melayu is gone Islam is gone? Try asking the real Arab scholars about this question. I bet that they will laugh on this thing. Islam exists way long before Melayu exists.

When you have this syndrome around, Malaysia can never be as great as Singapore. or other nations better than us in overall aspects They keep saying that some people who really call for changes are American agents, but they never questioned themselves whether they are really agen Amerika? What about sending police against ceramah's and vigils? Isn't that the Bush American prescription? Who is the real Agen Amerika? Those bigots who call themselves great or we the people?

Not Now For Reinstatement of Royal Immunity

There have been calls by certain royals to call upon the government to reinstate the royal immunity that has been removed since 1993.

I have a mixed bag of opinion of this issue.

I concur with what was written in the letter to Malaysiakini. Rulers have seem to forget their roles to the people. And I still remember of cases where members of royalty go and assault citizens for some small mistakes. Take the Douglas Gomez affair where he was assaulted for speaking up. In fact it was the royals who ordered the pullout of the BPSS from the MSSM Hockey games in 1992 in wake of the horrendous episode in Sukma 1992.

For now, I don't agree to have the reinstatement unless the rulers prove to the people that they do not misuse their privilege at normal people.
