PAK LAH: Najib, Rosmah not involved in Altantuya murder

KUALA LUMPUR, June 24 — Prime Minister Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi stated emphatically today he does not believe his deputy Datuk Seri Najib Abdul Razak and wife Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor are involved in the murder of Mongolian model Altantuya Shaariibuu.

Neither has he received any military intelligence report about the murder, Abdullah said in response to allegations in a sworn statement made by Malaysia Today editor Raja Petra Kamaruddin on June 18.

"I am concerned. What he (Raja Petra) did is unacceptable. What he said is not right. He said in his statutory declaration I have been given a report about the murder by the military intelligence. That is not correct," Abdullah said after a meeting in Parliament.

Asked specifically if he ever received any report, Abdullah replied, "No... I do not remember receiving anything and am confident that I did not receive anything. Nothing was sent to me."

Attorney-General Tan Sri Abdu Gani Patail has launched investigations into the statutory declaration, which among others alleged that a military intelligence report was sent to Abdullah, his son-in-law Khairy Jamaluddin, who is Rembau MP, and an unnamed Malay ruler.

Raja Petra, better known as RPK, has welcomed the investigations. He is already facing sedition charges for implicating Najib in the murder. A political analyst close to Najib, Abdul Razak Baginda, and two elite policemen who provide VIP security cover have been charged with conspiracy and murder in the case.

Opposition leader and Ipoh Timur MP Lim Kit Siang's emergency motion to discuss RPK's sworn statement was earlier rejected today by the Dewan Rakyat as it was considered sub-judice due to the ongoing trial. Prosecutors completed their case yesterday after 124 days where 84 witnesses took the stand.

This is Dollah Badawi's latest denial symptom. He said that didn't get the Military Intelligence report. Hahaha, he's just playing just like Bart Simpson. Bart's famous quot is something like above...with his phrase, "I didn't do it! I didn't do it!" As what Howsy said, Pak Lah mudah tipu semua orang! Macam petrol, macam election, how long will he keep on lying to the people?

You can't fool everybody, not even God. When you stand before him, saying that will not suffice.

Oil Price Hike: Where Will We Be?

DCA Minister Shafie Apdal said on Thursday that an oil price hike is imminent given the fact that the latest crude oil prices has spiked up to $90 per barrel, given of the demand by the U.S in facing its winter season and the current face off between the Turks and the renegade Kurds at the border town of Turkey-Iraq.

This will be the fourth time in four years in the Abdullah Badawi administration that the government has raised the price of oil given the fact that the amount of subsidies forked out by Petronas and the government themselves ballooned according to the latest price of crude oil. To most of us, it means more money has to be forked out for food and transportation, the core two needs that a working man will have to pay out for. There is also a possibility, according to Petronas CEO Hassan Merican that Malaysia could be a net importer of oil by 2010 if the demand of oil increases 4 percent each year until 2010.

A Malaysiakini comment has clearly spelt out of what is to be expected in the next six months. Just be prepared for the worst has come. Secondly, with this scenario, the possibility of throwing general elections to stop Anwar Ibrahim, particularly cannot be done by this year itself.

A question is borne out of this scenario: with the price of oil going up, which are path we going to pick? The path of the common man, or the path towards better quality of living?

The Common Man's Path

To a common working-class man working in Malaysia, fuel hike means had to squeeze some more of necessity usage for use of food and transportation. And this can be a domino effect to their daily routine. Eventually it would builds up to creating more stress and tension to a person so much, if uncontrolled, it could destroy what is inside of a human being.

Just imagine, had the price of fuel remain at the price of before 2002, people do not have to pay that much to enjoy a bowl of noodles, regardless of anywhere we stay in Malaysia. Let's say back in 1999, the price of a bowl of noodles is at $2.80, in 2008, the price could be at $3.80 or so. The inflation rate is $1.00 per 10 years. Right now, just imagine what can you do if you can save $1.00 out of the price above? You can use it for other purposes such as accumulated savings for future use or something else you can name for yourself.

Some may blame the price hike of oil at oil players like those at Haliburton, NYME and investors for being greedy and speculative. You can say that those big fat rich men enjoyed the riches after playing the mercantile market, reaping the big profits while the others suffer. Are we going to result to being Mr. Payback, a vigilante fighting for a common man or calling for Michael Moore to save the day? Elite capitalism?

Back to the Malaysian context, the ex-journalist whom I met at Hari Raya Open House the other day pointed fingers at Mohamad Yackop for the problems of limited growth of Malaysia economy. He accused the government for not being proactive in improving the economy, saying that the progress was hampered by some ridiculous policies especially the NEP. He also poked a question at Yackop himself: The Sing dollar value is 2.3 times more than the ringgit, which is about 22% undervalued than the value before the pre-Asian financial crisis but worth 1.5 against the dollar. Why has no effort be done to strengthened the ringgit? The ringgit should be at $2.92 against the dollar right now (in his words) And Yackop's answer was just one line: Let the market decide.

To him, it was an answer that he could not accept. A common man would be convinced that having a strong ringgit would reduce the cost of imports of various products, including oil. Coupled with reduced tariffs - sure, I would be spending $263 against $302 to buy a barrel of oil. Imagine the amount of savings per barrel, $40! I can use $40 for other things....!

The next person he poked at is Shafie Apdal with another question, why all things go up but nothing has gone down? Shouldn't there be a review of price for people to enjoy? Shafie never answered the question..to his disappointment.

Well, looking at the common man's perspective has many points, and the conclusion is that the government's failure to go more proactive approach in improving the economy, not relying on FDI and Economic Corridors and other things is dragging the people's feet down.

But have you look at the other side of the coin?

The Path of Better Quality of Living

I had a dinner chat with a schoolmate of mine during my secondary school days yesterday over this matter, and he seems to prove a point, with an aim to help people going towards a better quality of life, in terms of how society progresses into a better one, in context of reaching the Vision 2020 goal.

Have we look at how Singapore people had a higher quality of living than we do? If yes, the answer is because that the government is constantly encouraging them to stand on both of their feet. Sadly, this is what many people are unaware of: the government is trying to get them not to rely on them any much longer. The truth is subsidies, when viewed at a long run can be a crutch, shortcut that people would cling on. Imagine the amount of subsidies, if taken off can be used to other things for development. For example, according to my friend who stayed in UK for four months, the card machine there still uses a magnetic stripe card, whereas in Malaysia, we have the privilege of using a chip-based card. At least a billion ringgit has been spent for the financial sector as to improve productivity in financial services...with unused subsidies!

Perhaps this also encourages people to be more aggressive in achieving success in business without assistance. You see that almost every Singaporean at least owns a high-end level of a car and at least an apartment on their own, without government assistance to help them. This is because of that methodology that their government introduced...self-sufficient, self-reliance to achieve better good.

Inevitably, prices go up and up and it never goes down at all. Let's take a look comparing the price in 1993 and as of now. Sure, it went up, but what is the probability or a better question, how many occasions do we see prices going down? I mean, we are talking of consumerism here!

Now, in the current situation, is Malaysia prepared to take better path of living or merely sticking back to the common man's path? It seems that given the population status and average of amount they earn, we are still clinging onto the common man's path.

Nazri Isn't Capable. He Should Quit

When it was learned that the Bar Council had marched to the PM's office to hand over the memorandum, the de facto Law Minister, the Nazi from Padang Rengas was making kinds of various statements and *denials* that people, comprising of lawyers, socio-political community and the opposition party find it unconvincing and crap.

The first denial, according to Malaysiakini quotes that Nazri says there was no crisis at all. That's the first mistake he made. He thinks the judiciary crisis as no crisis. Just go through this line a few times saying it out loud:

There's no need for such a judicial commission as there is no crisis in our judiciary.
No crisis, no problems. I don't see any scandal.
This are all efforts by the opposition to create distrust and erode public confidence in the judiciary.

You idiot! Are you trying to ignore this thing that is plunging the country into abyss? Nobody has the confidence as before to trust the law system of Malaysia already. And you try to make that statement as an excuse? The hell with it! And you blame the opposition for the problems that arise in this country? The opposition did it? You did it first, pal! That's your mistake.

You are supposed to clean up the mess and shows us that you did fix the problem. It's not leaving the pile of mess and blaming the others for the problem. That is the problem with mentality of idiots of the Bolehland. If Wee makes a video that makes people think and points out the mistakes that Malaysia did, you should understand the criticism and not shooting back like a troll! You are exactly like Chuck Austen! Period! Lame trolls, assholes, call whatever you want, but we have the knowledge and confidence that it's not our fault to point out.

The claim was then refuted by people. Second mistake is to call lawyers as opposition parties. Hey, lawyers are there to work base on the law, not politics. It seems that this idiot Nazri cannot differentiate the meaning of talking law and politics. He doesn't know the line well. Law and politics have different meanings. This is not election. OMG!

This is not the only occasion that he makes mistakes. The famous video footage of that Gestapo man calling people stupid and asshole in the Parliament on 21 June is still the main highlight that shows his arrogance as the de facto Law Minister. This guy at times can find the use of law to be manipulated on folks. Remember the day where he said that the Child Act could be used against Nurin's parents for negligence?

Is he playing the hero so that everyone thinks of how great this El Balachi is?

This guy should quit. He's not doing what he's supposed to do as a Law Minister. A loudmouth and then make noises, making mistakes, pointing fingers at people for the mess...that's it! People had enough of this guy. The guy tries to hide mistakes by denying this. The guy blaming the Bar Council for not calling him over for the memorandum...his reputation spells it out to the people which is why they don't hand it to him.

The antics is enough for me to say in the face that he is not capable to be the Law Minister. Instead he should quit and give the post to a better person who knows the Malaysian law better. Hey they are a few great people who is good in the Malaysian law. And some of them are bloggers too. Why not give to our Raja Nazrin?

Should I stop here? I would love too, but then who knows, El Balachi might go bashing against bloggers for "why you write about me....point to Jeff, ask the question...point to Zorro...ask him the same thing..., point to June...why you bash me!?...point to others....you stupid bloggers..."

This is one sucker punch from Uncle Lim, saying Nazri is unbecoming. Beautiful punch!

Another problem here is that ISM guys are just issuing directives to the paper editors of not turning that to the front news page. I think it's scary for them to see it in front. The ISM is telling them first step this second step that...that's not freedom of the press! That's subversion! I have no opinion on this ISM rep Che Din Yusof who issues directives but I think it is insensible and wrong mentality to issue a directive against the press instincts. You might blame it on the idiots like FAK or Joe Baharom (a S.I.L crony).

Just give that thing to new batch of people who are subject experts and can able to run the country well. I remembered Anwar Ibrahim said in his MEA paper that Malaysia is still run by old dinosaurs who know nothing about new improvements to the world. As Susan's tagline says: May the truth save us all.

Eunuchs!

Three days left before the license for the JIRA application expires. Unfortunately, nobody from Atlassian seemed to be answering my mail of desperate call. But those who came and going through the whole system seemed to be calling the shots particularly by those working on the ILMU component of the entire product.

They ask if they can put this field visible on certain stages, ask if they can put this there or not. I couldn't say no though as to avoid raising their hidden reaction of anger or my trying to show off, which is something I would like to avoid at all costs. Among things they asked were if they can convert the PRC thing to a click append thing, auto assign. I wonder wouldn't it be good for them to exercise their muscles for a while by setting the date manually. At least the good thing they said was "see if you can".

At times I couldn't think of a good answer to explain to them. They think that this program does wonders like they can incorporate many things into one. Well, almost all. Except for the last part. When they proposed the big amount of changes there at around 3 p.m., I had to rework on changing the screens, changing the workflow and etc.. and all my work crashed abruptly when the database server refused to connect with my terminal, which I am hosting the program.

Everytime I log into the system, the red label at the main screen kept showing in my face. I really wanted to give myself a breather after all this. I thought I could finish everything, but the database server crash at the last minute in the evening prevented me from going on.


I wonder how some of the colleagues I feel behaved like eunuchs in the feudal Chinese period. They wield more power than the royals, showing themselves how mighty they are. Well, that was pre-Three Kingdoms saga but I feel that they refuse to go for the new change or something. At least my manager encouraged me to try go outside the box. But to them, I find that they are still back inside the box. But their seniority is above my authority. What can I do but to do and maybe grief this to my U.M?

Oh, God. Please help me. Is this what Ephesus is about? Patience and penitence?
