Instant Noodles in Port Weld

The other day, the term "instant noodles" coined out recently means for out of the sudden projects launched by the political parties to entice support from the people in that constituency. And Najib has assured that there will be no instant noodle projects during the election campaign.

Remember that while cooking instant noodles, you need to clean the noodles constantly, with cold water as you see what those noodle people cook. The reason of cleaning it with another pot of water is to clean off existing plastic / dirt that is not removed from the first one. Every pack of instant noodles contains layers of plastic. If not taken care of, it will affect your health and if eaten too often, it could lead to death.


This situation is akin to what Barisan Nasional is doing now in Port Weld. To entice the support of the Chinese voters, the class-F contractors appointed by Barisan Nasional have started three days ago to fix the drainage system on the main road leading to there.

Also, to play the unity stunt, the Education Ministry launched the state-level school Rakan Muda program in a chinese school in that vicinity of Port Weld.

But who may know that this project, if not done properly could cause problems and more fixes are required - which means more money required to solve the problem. This is akin to cooking instant noodles but not well enough.

Through the way to Port Weld, we noticed many people in the gerombolan eating the famous Mee Udang (malay prepared) - but I don't know whether it's free for everyone who is supporting the BN.


P.S - You must go for the very good curry mee and tow foo fah in Port Weld. The curry mee is in well demand and it starts selling only after 3 p.m

It's been 18 years since I joined Volvo, a Swedish company. Working for them has proven to be an interesting experience. Any project here takes 2 years to be finalized, even if the idea is simple and brilliant. It's a rule.

Globalized processes have caused in us (all over the world) a general sense of searching for immediate results. We have come to possess a need to see immediate results. This contrasts greatly with the slow movements of the Swedish. They, on the other hand, debate, debate, debate, hold endless meetings and work with a slowdown scheme. At the end though, this always yields outstanding results.

Said in another words:
1. Sweden is about the size of San Pablo , a state in Brazil .
2. Sweden has 8 million inhabitants.
3. Stockholm , has 500,000 people.
4. Volvo, Escania, Ericsson, Electrolux, are some of its renowned companies. Volvo supplies the NASA.

The first time I was in Sweden , one of my colleagues picked me up at the hotel every morning. It was September, cold and snowy. We would arrive early at the company and he would park far away from the entrance (2000 employees drive their cars to work). The first day, I didn't say anything, neither the second nor the third. One morning I asked, "Do you have a fixed parking space? I've noticed we park far from the entrance even when there are no other cars in the lot." To which he replied, "Since we're here early we'll have time to walk, and whoever gets in late will be in a hurry and need a place closer to the door. Don't you think?"

Nowadays, there's a movement in Europe named Slow Food. This movement establishes that people should eat and drink slowly, with enough time to taste their food, spend time with the family, friends, without rushing. Slow Food is against its counterpart: the spirit of Fast Food and what it stands for as a lifestyle. Slow Food is the basis for a bigger movement called Slow Europe, as mentioned by Business Week.

Basically, the movement questions the sense of "hurry" and "craziness" generated by globalization, fueled by the desire of "having in quantity" (life status) versus "having with quality" or the "quality of being". The French, even though they work 35 hours per week, are more productive than the Americans or British. The Germans have established 28.8 hour workweeks and have seen productivity driven up by 20%. This slow attitude has brought forth the US 's attention, pupils of the fast and the "do it now!".

This no-rush attitude doesn't represent doing less or having lower productivity. It means working and doing things with greater quality, productivity, perfection, with attention to detail and less stress. It means reestablishing family values, friends and leisure time. Taking the "now", present and concrete, versus the "global", undefined and anonymous. It means taking essential human values, the simplicity of living.

It stands for a less coercive work environment, happier, lighter and more productive where people enjoy doing what they know best how to do. It's time to stop and think on how companies need to develop serious quality with no-rush that will increase productivity and the quality of products and services, without losing the essence of spirit.

In the movie Scent of a Woman, there's a scene where Al Pacino asks a girl to dance and she replies, "I can't, my boyfriend will be here any minute now". To which Al responds, "A life is lived in an instant". Then they dance to a tango.

Many of us live our lives running behind time, but we only reach it when we die of a heart attack or in a car accident rushing to be on time. Others are so anxious of living the future that they forget to live the present, which is the only time that truly exists. We all have equal time throughout the world. No one has more or less. The difference lies in what each one of us does with our time. We need to live each moment. As John Lennon said, "Life is what happens to you while you're busy making other plans".

Congratulations for getting to the end of this message. There are many who would've stopped in the middle so as not to waste time in this "globalized" world.

And so is Mat Taib. The Muhammand son of Muhammad is reportedly refusing to face Raja Petra Kamaruddin, who challenged UMNO and Mat Tyson himself to an open debate scheduled a month from last week.

He's a coward after all. Maybe he is afraid to react since there are tones of evidence of his wrongdoing. He's chickening already. If he doesn't show up, it means, you are giving RPK the clear fact that you are in the wrong already.

Bloggers as karaoke singers?

Today ZAM compares bloggers as karaoke singers:

He said some people might enjoy their "singing", especially those who shared their views, but many rejected them because they sang "out of tune" and their views were unacceptable to the majority of the people.

He said some of the bloggers were those who had once received the attention of the mainstream media, but were now rejected, and so had to find a new avenue to vent their frustration. However, not many people read their pieces.

"Anyway, I see this development as something positive because with the opportunity to "sing in the karaoke", they can relieve their tension and 'addiction'.

And the statement of saying the mainstream media will sway more people than blogs. Of course the mainstream is government-controlled, fools. There is definitely censure and our editors are under pressure of not letting a single thing hit the fan that is the government or they will risk losing their job. Is that something they had to bear and don't like? I mean the editors? Yes!

You dolt! If people starts to know the truth then what happens to the politicians. Some are cheered, some are jeered and some will be arrested by the ACA.

But you are also comparing those who write diaries, life rants and those who love cooking as karaoke singers! Your statement is encompassing every living person in Malaysia who might not be involved in social commentary but women and children!

I told you many times already. Start a blog and let your stories and information tell you the actual picture of what blogging is. If you don't have...don't open your mouth on this subject. But I am not forcing you. I have lost count of the number of times people hit back at ZAM because of this ridiculous remarks.

One Big Group Of Lunch

This afternoon, we had a luncheon farewell for one of my colleagues, Elaine who would be leaving on the 1st of May. Her last day in the company would be on the 30th. However, not all colleagues will be there on that day as some would be taking their annual leaves and return on the 3rd of May. Some would be taking leave this Friday and Monday.

We had a luncheon for her at Secret Recipe and at the same time, it is a birthday one for our tester Siew.

Sye Nie and Secret Recipe's signature dish - the lamb stew. Unfortunately it loses to Manila's Place as it is much better. Or some other places, which I could not remember in Penang.


Finally, it's Elaine and Bee Kim. Did I tell you that Bee Kim's behavior reminded me granny?

But I'll be seeing her on Friday again. I'm working on Friday, going back home on Sunday.
