The real difficulty for people taking budget airlines in cities in Australia is that to go to Malaysia, they can only exit via Melbourne or in Brisbane. So if you are in Sydney, you have to take a journey to either of the two cities and then take the flight from there to KL's LCCT.
It's just the same thing as the business monopoly (e.g High Speed broadband) that TM is holding right now. In Singapore, there is more than one vendor besides SingTel that offers the similar service, all part of encouraging a healthy competition.
I had a very good thinking that policy makers have been ill-advised in this case.
What if these two airliners are given the chance to compete in flying to Sydney?
